This album includes recordings I captured by a pond in rural Maine, featuring the song of a Veery, followed by the wichety-wichety song of a Yellowthroat. The third bird is a Song Sparrow. Other tracks include the sound of surf along a stony beach at Schoodic Point, Maine, and the occasional hollow thud of a canoe tethered near the shoreline of a Maine lake. Next are tracks I captured in Maine’s deep woods; first a Winter Wren; then a Hermit Thrush; then a White-throated Sparrow. In the track featuring a Carolina Wren in Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, the bird’s song takes on an echoing quality as it bounces around the Bald Cypress trees and across the sanctuary’s dark water. Next is a track of surf on Sanibel Island, Florida, and finally a track I recorded along a pond at dusk, including the splash of a beaver's tail on the water. Bird songs include a Veery, a Hermit Thrush, and a Yellowthroat, plus the occasional mosquito as dusk continued to deepen.
